The American School is fully accredited by Cognia, previously known as AdvancED. The American School curriculum is based entirely on the US curriculum; however, Arabic, Religion, and Social Studies in Arabic classes are offered according to the Ministry of Education’s requirements. The school curriculum is aligned with the Common Core State Standards. These standards have been adopted and adapted to suit the needs of universities, both locally and internationally. We acknowledge that excellence in education presupposes that technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the programs. Thus, we have integrated technology into the curriculum. We understand the concern some parents may have regarding the External Standardized Examinations that American Diploma learners need to join universities; thus, the school prepares them for the different exams through special test prep classes for the SAT, ACT, and EST exams. We focus on building a strong vocabulary and mastering test-taking skills incorporated in the different syllabi. Moreover, at the American School, we stress the need to identify the different learning styles of each student, and we cater for the different learners’ needs. All courses have been written with differentiated instruction built into the daily lesson plans.
Lower Elementary
ISEE offers an international education promoting engagement, diversity, and global awareness. We believe in instilling the Egyptian identity and culture through teaching Arabic and Religion. ISEE Lower Elementary stage includes three grade levels (Grades 1, 2 & 3). In grades one and two, the homeroom teaching system is used, with the homeroom teacher and co-teacher introducing the four core subjects which are English Language Arts, Mathematics, English Social Studies, and Science. In grade three, a specialized teacher introduces each core subject. The school offers 3 second language options (French, German, and Spanish) starting in grade one. We believe that teaching a Second language is an opportunity to expose our learners to different cultures through language. Technology integration is reflected clearly throughout most of the subjects. ICT classes begin in grade one, with interactive screens in every classroom to maximize participation and critical thinking. Different clubs are introduced starting grade one, allowing learners to rotate and enhance their skills through activities like scouting, storytelling, music, and etiquette.
Upper Elementary
The goal of our Upper-Elementary stage is to foster a caring learning community, which promotes a love of learning by focusing on the emotional, moral, social, physical, and intellectual growth of each learner. We are strong believers in the importance of instilling a strong Egyptian identity and culture. ISEE Upper Elementary stage includes three grade levels (Grades 4, 5 & 6). We build strong curricula and assessments that follow International Standards in all subjects to ensure quality learning. 21st-century skills are embedded in our lesson plans and reinforced through activities. There is a wide variety of clubs available for learners to join. We also offer weekly drama, music, art, and physical education sessions. Extracurricular activities allow learners to pursue their current interests and passions and perhaps even find ones. Our grand aim is to provide learners with the foundation necessary to reach their fullest potential and become productive members of society.
Middle and High School
At ISEE, excellence is the end in mind. This is achieved by adopting a comprehensive approach to education following a rigorous set of curricula. We aim to develop our learners’ wide array of skills through experiential learning in an enjoyable and inviting school environment. The American School follows the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), a set of academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy that are grounded in evidence and designed to ensure that all students have the academic knowledge and skills they need in these core subjects to succeed after high school. In addition to that the school follows the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) for all second languages, and the Ministry of Education (MOE) framework for all Ministry of Education Subjects (Arabic/Arabic Social Studies/Religion) The school also offers various Advanced Placement (AP) courses which prepare students for higher education. We believe that the school experience goes beyond its walls for it creates a climate that impacts learners’ learning. We believe that discipline is one of the cornerstones of a well-designed educational system. To ensure good discipline, a close, cooperative relationship must exist between home and school. ISEE policies and procedures provide close communication with parents to ensure the quality of the routine and systemic educational process. Firm but Fair is the basis for our communication code. Guidelines are provided to foster mutual respect and cooperation within the school setting. ISEE seriously takes its responsibility to educate learners in a safe environment where learners are free from fear of harm, bullying, intimidation, foul language, aggression, or any act against our values or culture. All learners at ISEE have the right to feel physically and emotionally safe. Faith in our mission along with a team of resolute and highly qualified dedicated teachers, and a rich learning environment are the components to excellence that will inspire our learners to do their best and excel in their lives.
