The American School

The American School is fully accredited by Cognia, previously known as AdvancED. The American School curriculum is based entirely on the US curriculum; however, Arabic, Religion, and Social Studies in Arabic classes are offered according to the Ministry of Education’s requirements. The school curriculum is aligned with the Common Core State Standards. These standards have been adopted and adapted to suit the needs of universities, both locally and internationally. We acknowledge that excellence in education presupposes that technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the programs. Thus, we have integrated technology into the curriculum. We understand the concern some parents may have regarding the External Standardized Examinations that American Diploma learners need to join universities; thus, the school prepares them for the different exams through special test prep classes for the SAT, ACT, and EST exams. We focus on building a strong vocabulary, and mastering test-taking skills incorporated in the different syllabi. Moreover, at the American School, we stress the need of identifying the different learning styles of each student, and we cater for the different learners’ needs. All courses have been written with differentiated instruction built into the daily lesson plans.
